Mojtaba M. Shourkaei is an Assistant Professor of Management at the Sobey School of Business. He received his first Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the University of Tehran, where his research focused on how HRM can play a positive role in promoting environmental sustainability among businesses. He also is receiving a second Ph.D. from University of Manitoba, where he studies alternative ways of organizing to enhance social and ecological well-being. Mojtaba’s passion for sustainability drives his teaching and research, aiming to inspire the next generation of business participants.

Mojtaba's current research interests include sustainable businesses, alternative organizations (e.g., cooperatives, social enterprises, and benefit corporations), corporate activism, and local grassroots community organizations that value social and ecological well-being more than maximizing profit. He has published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Management Studies and Business Strategy & the Environment.

In addition to his research, Mojtaba's teaching interests focus on sustainability-related courses such as Business Sustainability, Business and Society, Business Ethics, and Social Entrepreneurship, helping students explore real-world applications of their studies.

When not in the classroom or conducting research, he enjoys hiking, outdoor swimming, biking, and spending time with family and friends. He often combines these passions to appreciate the beauty of nature and the value of real social interactions in our interconnected world.
